Tension and Trauma Release Exercises (TRE) is the body’s natural process for releasing stress, tension and trauma. It is a series of simple, gentle exercises to stretch and fatigue the leg muscles, so that the tremoring mechanism activates and the body goes through it’s natural release, shaking out the tension, stress and trauma.
TRE helps the body to relax. Long held tension patterns shift out as the muscles let go of the tension and use up the adrenaline and cortisol from ‘fight and flight’ reactions where the person couldn’t run away or fight back.
When the body is triggered in threat or perceived danger it gets pumped full of adrenaline and cortisol to prepare it to fight back or run away. If you don’t run or fight those chemicals stay within the body and contribute to the chronic tension, tightness, and soreness we feel when our muscles are locked up and we have restricted movement due to the clenching and holding on of the tension and fear.
In today’s modern world most people are stressed, tense and many are traumatised. They go through their day the best they can, while feeling tense, anxious, scared or angry. They know they could feel better, but can’t seem to relax.
TRE is a simple process that once learned you can use for free to help your body relax, let go of the stress, tension and trauma, and return to its natural calm state, where your interaction with others can occur from a peaceful place, welcoming connection and support from others, rather than fearing conflict, expecting abuse, or just hassle from interacting with others.

TRE can be learned in an individual appointment. It is recommended you then go and practice using it at home for a week or more, before returning for a second appointment to practice and refine your technique.
Most people can feel relief within the first few experiences of TRE, noticing internally how the body starts to relax, let go, and return to a state of calm.
